About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-focused Claims Support Intern to become a part of our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the insurance claims process, encompassing activities such as claim intake, documentation, and customer service. In this position, you will collaborate in a supportive office atmosphere where you will receive mentorship and guidance from seasoned professionals.

Education and Experience
Must be a rising Senior, May 2026 graduate, or Graduate Student pursuing a degree in insurance, risk management, business administration, or a related field.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Flexibility and ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to quickly learn various online solutions
Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook and Word
Location and Commitments
Based at our District Claims Offices: Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Hickory, Raleigh, Washington, and Wilson
SUMMER 2026: May 18, 2026-July 24, 2026. 10 weeks for 15-30 hours/week. Schedule is flexible: M-F between the hours of 8:00a and 4:00p.
Responsibilities of the Role
Claims Processing: Assist in the processing of various insurance claims.
Data Entry: Accurately input claim information into our claims management system.
Documentation: Gather and organize necessary documentation to support claims.
Customer Service:
Provide excellent customer service to policy holders throughout the claims process.
Assist answering telephone, directing calls, handling inquiries and providing assistance where appropriate.
Refer customer questions to other staff as appropriate.
Research: Conduct research to gather information related to claims, such as coverage limits, policy terms, and industry regulations.
Claims Investigations: Assist in investigating claims to determine coverage and liability.
Attend and participate in company claim meetings, seminars, and other educational opportunities as available.
Provide assistance during catastrophes by serving as a catastrophe team member and assisting in the state at DCOs as needed.
